Mark Zuckerberg Announces AI Project for Metaverse: Mark Zuckerberg recently announced a number of ambitious AI projects for Metaverse. In addition, the chief executive of Facebook, or Meta, has termed artificial intelligence, or AI technology, as the “key to metaverse.”

While announcing the livestream, the head of Facebook showed the functionality of an AI feature called “Builder Bot.” He uses the feature to create a virtual world with an island, plants, and beaches.

Zuckerberg also announced the creation of an AI-based Universal Speech Translator.

“The ability to speak any language with anyone is actually a superpower that has always been a dream,” said Zuckerberg.

The BBC reports that Builder Bot was part of Meta’s AI Assistant technology aimed at further improving the CareOkey project. When ordinary users enter the virtual world using VR headsets or glasses, they will have the opportunity to “see the world from our perspective,” Zuckerberg said.

Zuckerberg also promised that the AI system used as Meta’s driving force would protect privacy, transparency, and accountability in the virtual world.

Facebook has been investing in AI projects for the last 10 years. The company has also appointed Ian Lekun, one of the world’s leading experts in the field, as head of the AI division.

Meta has announced the construction of a new AI super computer in January. The company claims that if the construction work is completed by the middle of 2022, it will be the world’s fastest supercomputer.

In October last year, the name was changed to “Meta” and “Facebook”. According to critics, Facebook was “rebranding” at the time to distance itself from the controversy over the leaked documents of former activist Frances Haugen.

Since the name change, Zuckerberg and his organization have been campaigning vigorously for Metaverse. Meta has also announced plans to hire 10,000 new workers in Europe to expedite the project.

However, critics are apprehensive about such a virtual world. Whether or not big businesses should be allowed to dominate this emerging sector and how secure users will be is a question that has been raised by experts.

Roger McNamee, one of Facebook’s first investors, does not support Meta or Facebook’s participation in this sector. He told the BBC that Facebook should not be allowed to create a “dystopian” metaverse. He made the remarks in the wake of Facebook’s failure to crack down on user privacy and spread lies and hate speech on its own platform.

Andrew Bosworth, chief technology officer at Meta, acknowledges that controlling Metaverse will be more difficult than other digital platforms. On the other hand, he also promised to give more control to the users of the Metaverse.
