Google AI is fighting with people. Google-owned AI maker DeepMind has announced the acquisition of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in competitive programming.
In the coding competition, the “Alpha Code” AI made by the company competed with the blood-flesh human coders.
According to the BBC,
Alpha code has been ranked among the top 54 percent in the simulations of 10 competitions organized with the participation of over five thousand contestants.
However, despite the success of the competition, AIT still has a long way to go to bring it up to par with the top programmers in the technology world, according to its creator, DeepMind.
According to a BBC report, AIT did not get a chance to look at any of the problems that had to be solved in the competition during training.
Among the problems that AI and human competitors had to solve as part of the programming competition were multiple challenges, such as building buildings and roads within certain limits and finding the right strategy to win board games.
There has always been a sense of fascination with programming competitions in private life, said Oriol Vinyals, chief researcher at DeepMind. He described being a member of the Alpha Code production team as “a dream come true.”
However, he acknowledged that their numbers were not enough to defeat AIT’s competition.
AIT’s founder, Mike Mirzayanov, founder of Codeforce, the competition’s governing body, called AIT a “promising new competitor.”
