Firefox will add Entry-Tracking Feature with VPN

Firefox will add entry-tracking feature with VPN. Mozilla, the maker of the Firefox browser, is launching a “multi-account container” add-on service with its own “virtual private network,” or VPN, service. The container separates professional and personal browsing history in the browser.

Mozilla launched the “Multi-Account Container” service as an add-on to Firefox in 2017. Containers store data on professional or personal work tabs by type. Containers can also be identified by different colors, icons, or different names.

Not only do these containers store browsing history separately, but they also store cookies and user tracking information separately. That is, users can sign in to multiple accounts on the same website simply by changing the container.

However, the technology site The Verge has commented that the add-on has additional advantages over Mozilla VPN. Mozilla’s own blog post explains that users can be connected to a separate server if needed for each task online. For example, if a user wants to access his online bank account from outside the country, he can search for a store in the vicinity in one tab with the add-on, and in another tab, he can view his personal bank account using a server in the city where he is a permanent resident.

The Verge commented that the integration of Mozilla VPN with the “Multi-Account Container” add-on would make it easier to keep user activity on the web secret. This strategy makes it difficult for the server to determine where the user is using the website.

By combining the “Container” add-on with VPN, users will be able to see which YouTube videos are gaining the most popularity in two different countries at the same time, as well as avoid the scrutiny of trying to find links between professional and personal work accounts.

Mozilla VPN made its debut in the technology services market in 2020. Mozilla added a “multi-hop” feature to the desktop version of the service in September last year. In that feature, two separate servers are used to keep the user’s online activities secret. Mozilla has recently announced that the feature will be added to the Android and iOS versions of Mozilla VPN.

On the Mozilla support page, you will find instructions on how to integrate “Multi-Account Container” with “Mozilla VPN”. Although Mozilla VPN is a relatively new service, the combination of features such as “multi-account containers” may attract users interested in maintaining personal privacy.
