Xiaomi is working on a 4 legged Robot Cyberdog. Recently, Xiaomi announced their own four-legged robot dog called ‘Cyberdog.’ The company has also introduced the robot dog to developers to work with it and create applications for it.
Boston Dynamics’ robot ‘Spot’ has similarities with Xiaomi’s robot dog, commented technology blog Engadget. At the heart of CyberDog is the world’s most miniature AI supercomputer, Nvidia’s Jetson Xavier’s NX.
In all, there are 11 sensors in the Cyberdog ‘body.’ It also includes touch and ultrasonic sensors. It also has GPS and a camera so that the robot can “interact with the environment.”
Xiaomi says the technology is as effective as helping the cyber dog follow its owner and avoid obstacles. It is also capable of gesture recognition or human face tracking. As a result, cyber dogs can easily find or track one of the groups of individuals.
Xiaomi is not selling Cyberdog as a generic product. For now, one thousand such robot dogs will be given to “Xiaomi fans, engineers, and robotics enthusiasts.” So that they can “jointly explore the immense potential of cyber dogs.”
However, the robot cannot be collected for free. Those interested will have to spend nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine yuan or about one and a half thousand dollars.
One ‘open-source community’ hosted by Xiaomi will be tasked with facilitating the whole process. Later, a robotics lab may be set up for “future innovation.”
