This time TikTok also thinks of paid subscription service. Instagram recently announced the launch of a pilot program for paid subscription services. TikTok, a popular social media site, has confirmed the news of walking in the same path without cutting the time of that announcement.
TikTok confirmed on Thursday that it was testing technology to support ‘paid subscription’ services. In this service, content creators will get the opportunity to take financial advantage of the viewers as viewers of their own content. However, TikTok did not say when the experimental feature would be available to all manufacturers, which manufacturers are participating in the testing process, or the transaction structure.
TikTok spokesman Zachary Kizer confirmed in an email to tech site Verge that TikTok is “testing” on paid subscriptions. TikTok is “always thinking of new ways to add value to its community and enhance the TikTok experience,” the spokesman claimed.
When the feature is launched, creators will get a new financial evaluation process of their own content. After testing a small number of users, TikTok found its own ‘Creator Next Hub‘ and ‘Tipping’ features in December last year. Content creators have the opportunity to get financial benefits from both features.
However, Verge says it is not yet clear exactly how TikTok will add the feature of dealing directly with manufacturers to its own business structure. Unlike other competitors in the market, TikTok algorithm has been successful. The algorithm brings new content to the user’s ‘for you’ page. Verge says this promotional strategy is beneficial for content creators to reach new audiences and turn them into customers.
However, if creators set aside their best content for paid subscribers, that content will not be part of the algorithm. There is a risk that the best works of the manufacturer will not reach the non-subscribers, so the users may not be interested in subscribing.
TikTok is not alone in suffering from this complication. Almost all the social media in the market are thinking of various strategies to give content creators and influencers income opportunities. All the organizations are facing the same complexity.
