Once again the world best smartphone brand Samsung. Samsung has regained the title of the best smartphone seller in the world. According to a recent report by Counterpoint Research, in 2021, the South Korean company led the world in annual smartphone shipping. Samsung shipped 271 million smartphones, up 6% in 2021. In that case, the company has given growth to the mid-ranger ‘A’ and ‘M’ series smartphones.
Meanwhile, the report claims that last year saw the first increase in the market since 2017, with a total of 1.39 billion units of smartphones shipped. However, in the fourth quarter of the year, shipments declined by 8% on an annualized basis (YOY) to 371 million units.
Note that while Samsung is the best in smartphone shipping, Apple has also shipped a record amount. Last year, the number of shipping units of Chinese company Xiaomi increased the most compared to 2020. According to Counterpoint, growing demand in regions such as North America, Latin America and India is the main reason behind the global smartphone market’s recovery in 2021. Demand for the company’s first 5G-enabled iPhone 12 series in the United States has reportedly helped Apple achieve better results.
However, due to some ongoing problems, not many smartphones have been sold in China (the world’s largest smartphone market), said Harmeet Singh Walia, a senior analyst at Counterpoint. He also said that material shortages in the second half of last year had affected most of the market, otherwise the results could have been better.
Speaking of brand-based shipments, Samsung shipped a total of 271 million smartphones, up 6% in 2021. In that case, the company has given growth to the mid-ranger ‘A’ and ‘M’ series smartphones. On the other hand, Apple’s iPhone 12 series has set a record by shipping 237.9 million units this year. However, Xiaomi global smartphone shipments have grown significantly, reaching a record 190 million units last year. On the other hand, Oppo and Vivo shipped 143.2 million units and 131.3 million units, respectively.
