Facebook to bring voice and video calling to the main app. Soon, it may make voice and video calls directly from the main app of Facebook. Facebook is checking this issue in the main app. In the meantime, social media in the US has experimentally handed over the facility to some users.
The company is trying to develop something that users can call without opening the standalone app messenger. According to a Reuters report, Facebook plans to add WhatsApp services to the main app in the future.
In the beginning, Facebook and Messenger services were together. Later, Facebook decided to separate the two services. As a result, users have had to download two apps to browse Facebook, send messages, and make calls.
Facebook, however, has been trying to launch cross-messaging services among its apps for a long time. Last September, the company started offering messaging services between Instagram and Messenger. It allows Instagram and Messenger users to find each other, send messages, and even talk to each other in video calls without the need for additional app downloads.
The importance of Messenger may remain the same even if calls and video services are introduced in the main app. On Monday, a Facebook spokesperson advised users to continue using Messenger for a whole messaging, audio, and video call experience.
A few days ago, Facebook came up with an end-to-end encryption service for Messenger’s voice and video calls. As a result, it will not be possible for anyone other than the sender and recipient to listen to Messenger’s voice and video calls. Even Facebook itself will not be able to hear users’ voices and video calls.
